Dr. Robert H. Hawes was awarded JGES International Honorary Membership in the Board of Councilors’ meeting on May 10, 2018. In recognition to the contribution to JGES, a commemorative plaque was given to Dr. Hawes from Prof. Hisao Tajiri, President of JGES, at the ASGE/JGES Session during DDW 2018 on June 2, 2018. Dr. Hawes is the first American who became one of the JGES International Honorary Members.

ASGE/JGES Session was a great success, although it was held in the early morning of the first day of DDW. Warm applause was given from the audience to Dr. Hawes who has worked hard as liaison between Japan and the USA for a long time.
