Dr. William S.C. Chao was awarded JGES International Honorary Membership at the Board of Councilors’ meeting on May 2017, and a commemorative plague was given to him from Prof. Hisao Tajiri, President of JGES, in recognition to the contribution to JGES right after Prof. Tajiri gave an honorary lecture entitled “Recent Activities of JGES and its collaboration with APSDE” in APDW 2017. Dr. William S.C. Chao passed away on August 13, 2017.

At the JGES Board of Councilors’ meeting on May 2017, Dr. Jean-François Rey was also awarded JGES International Honorary Membership, and the news was distributed via WEO Newsletter (WEO News Room).
